Nosocomial
infections are one of the major cause of morbidity in the
neonates and they have characteristics not found in any other
group of patients. There are a number of risk factors for
infection in neonates including birth weight, gestational age,
practices in the ward, prescription of antibiotics etc.
Understanding the risk factors is crucial for developing
strategies to reduce the incidence of nosocomial infections in
the NICU.
