The present work
was conducted to investigate the salt tolerance and strategy of
synergistic effect with either 20 µM or 200 µM of Zn and Ni with
either concentration of 1 µM or 100 µM on fresh, dry matter,
water content and length in shoot and root of four wheat
cultivars 94, Gimiza 11, Gimiza 10 and Giza 168. Fresh, dry
matter, length and water content were decreased as increasing
salinization levels according to their salt tolerance. Wheat
cultivars can be ranked as follows cv. Sakha> cv. Gimiza 11> cv.
Gimiza 10> cv. Giza 168. Cv. Sakha 94 was the higher water
content and cv. Giza 168 was the lower water content. Cv. Gimiza
11 and cv. Gimiza 10 were intermediate in their salt tolerance.
When treated cv. Sakha 94 with either 20 µM or 200 µM of Zn and
Ni with either concentration 1 µM or 100 µM results an
inhibition effect in fresh, dry matter, length and water content
in shoot and root at all levels of NaCl. In cv. Giza 168, there
is a slight increase in fresh and dry matter of shoot with 1 µM
Ni and in root with Ni 100 µM. Whereas in cv. Gimiza 11 and cv.
Gimiza 10, these treatments were significantly activated in
fresh and dry matter in shoot and root especially at lower and
moderate salinity levels and in shoot than in root.
